Blue and White Competition Score Update

Alayna Dinani

The Blue and White Day festivities are officially underway! These past few town hall meetings have provided both teams the perfect opportunity to rack up some points, adding a little friendly competition to make our meetings even more exciting. The first event of the Blue-White Day games was the Gummy Bear challenge. The goal was simple: find the gummy bear deep in the whipped cream. Two students from each grade level participated, and everyone did an outstanding job. Despite an impressive effort from the White team, the Blue team came out on top! The game was messy, but it was also incredibly fun and full of laughs. It was a great way to start the festivities!

The next town hall competition was inspired by the newly released season of Squid Games and did not disappoint. Kyle Lee organized the event and did a fantastic job setting up traditional Korean games for everyone to enjoy. The competition followed a timed format, similar to a relay race, where teams had to complete various challenges. The first team to finish all the games would come out on top. Both teams brought team spirit and determination, excelling in different challenges. However, in a nail-biting final round, the White team pulled ahead to secure the victory despite the Blue team leading most of the competition.

The third town hall competition this year was fun and informative as we learned more about the incredible faculty at Portledge. The game, Faculty Trivia, challenged students from each grade level to work together in teams to select the correct answers to some tough questions. Many of the questions were difficult, and it’s safe to say that everyone walked away having learned something new about our teachers. For example, did you know that Ms. White earned her pilot's license at 17 or that Mrs. Rigg has gone skydiving? These are just a few of the fascinating things our faculty has accomplished! The game was intense, and despite a strong push from the Blue team, the White team claimed the victory. The White team got to pie senior Joie Jean-Paul in the face as a reward!

These town hall meetings have been taken to the next level with the fun and engaging games that have kept everyone excited and involved. The friendly competition has brought our school community together, though the race for the top spot is still very close. Currently, the White team leads with 3,940 points, while the Blue team has earned 3,360 points. Both teams have shown incredible effort and determination, making each game exciting and unpredictable. With several more games left to play, the Blue team is still very much in the running, and there's plenty of time for them to close the gap. We’re all looking forward to the upcoming challenges, and it’s anyone’s game as we continue to build the energy and fun at our town hall meetings!
