On December 16th, the Portledge Business Club took a field trip to NYC to visit the NYSE. Club members, along with Mr. Disimile and Mr. LaFlair had the exclusive chance to go inside the NYSE and learn about the history of the building. The NYSE is the largest stock exchange in the whole world. Not only is it very important in present-day economics, but it is also a big part of history. Upon their arrival, the Portledge Business Club received a tour and spoke with Mr. Terranova about the future of artificial intelligence, how to think about your decisions more deeply, and how they will affect you. Students then watched a live broadcast of one of CNBC’s shows, Fast Money Halftime Report. The business club found this trip enjoyable because the club focuses on financial decisions and the current state of the economy, which is what the trip was all about. This trip created an opportunity for Portledge’s Business Club to get an insight into the world of the stock market and what goes on behind the scenes of the economy.
