Upper School Coffeehouse

The Upper School Coffeehouse was exciting for the performers and students! What began as a simple school event on the evening of January 24th quickly turned into one of the more memorable nights of the year. Held in Bahnik Hall, the coffeehouse brought students together for drinks and sweets, but the most stirring part of the night came from the performances. Portledge students showcased a wide variety of talents at the event. The night was packed with performances of singing solos and duets, speeches, piano and guitar showcases, and even performances from bands created by students. It was incredible to watch students on the stage with so much confidence. By the night's end, this event was unique and impressive. The coffeehouse is truly a night where our student body can unite and showcase their gifts in a positive and safe environment created by a sense of community.
One of the upper school deans, Ms. White, took the time to learn how to play the sheet-music on the piano for many of the students' performances, even dedicating time to practice with them, which helped students to put their best abilities on display. She went on to heartfully commemorate the students involved for their hard work and dedication to their performances. Many students and teachers who did not perform also attended the coffee house to show their encouragement and support. Through singing or spoken word, the performances kept the audience engaged and amazed. With a cup of hot chocolate and a cookie, students and teachers left the coffeehouse feeling inspired by this lively and impressive performance, already looking forward to the next one!
