Portledge Pep Rally
Olga Markovic and Kennedy Abrahams

On September 27, Portledge School was buzzing with excitement and cheer as the community came together for its lively Pep Rally to celebrate its fall athletes and kick off the first sports season of the ‘24-’25 school year. The event showcased the school’s dedication to bringing the community together, fostering school spirit, and supporting its sports teams throughout their seasons.
The newly constructed Athletic and Wellness Center was filled with students, faculty, and staff, all eager to cheer on the athletes. The rally kicked off with introductions of each fall sports team, including Girls and Boys Varsity Soccer, Varsity Cross Country, and Girls Varsity Volleyball. As the athletes ran into the gym, the crowd erupted in applause, recognizing their hard work, commitment, and achievements during the season. Students of all ages, from the lower, middle, and upper school showed their strong school spirit as they supported their friends and athletic teams.
In this eruption of school spirit, seniors Maddy Jelloe (‘25) and Wilder Finkel (‘25) celebrated their commitments to play sports at the collegiate level. Supported by their family, friends, and peers, the two inspiring seniors posed for pictures and signed their letters of intent to their respective colleges: Maddy Jelloe for soccer at Colgate University and Wilder Finkel for lacrosse at Skidmore College.

Overall, the Pep Rally brought the entire Portledge community together, as students of all ages— from the lower school to the upper school— united in celebration, showing their unwavering support for their peers and sports teams.
