On January 20th, President Donald J. Trump and Vice President JD Vance were sworn into office in Washington, D.C. The historic Capitol Hill ceremony, the 45th president's inauguration, attracted hundreds of thousands of Americans. Leaders of various large tech businesses, such as Mark Zuckerberg, Shou Chew, and Elon Musk, were among the attendees.

The day began with a morning prayer at the nation's cathedral, followed by a procession to the capitol. Chief Justice John Roberts led the swearing-in ceremony, administering Trump's presidential oath of office and reaffirming his commitment to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

During the swearing-in ceremony, the famous country star Carrie Underwood performed an excellent rendition of America the Beautiful, eliciting cheers from the crowd. Various protests arose during the president's inauguration, including the People’s March on Washington, the National Day of Action, and Al Sharpton’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day rally. After the ceremony, Donald Trump, JD Vance, and Trump and Vance family members attended the inaugural parade in the nation's capital.

Various commitments were made during President Trump's inaugural speech. A national emergency was declared at the border, which will likely be followed by mass deportations. The 45th president also claimed to challenge the border crisis by ending sanctuary cities. Additionally, the inaugural speech said that tariffs would be applied to countless countries to bolster American business and that tax cuts would be applied to large energy businesses.
